User Instructions for To-Do List Tool
Introduction: Welcome to the To-Do List application! This tool allows you to manage your tasks efficiently by adding, viewing, and downloading them in PDF format. You can also prioritize tasks and set deadlines for better task management.
How to Use the Tool
1. Adding a New Task
- Step 1:Enter Task Title
- In the Task Title field, type the title or name of your task (e.g., “Designing Schematic”, “Footprint Generation”).
- Step 2:Enter Task Description
- In the Task Description field, provide a brief description of your task (e.g., “The Sections to be added in Schematic, and parts whose footprints are to be generated”).
- Step 3:Select Task Date
- In the Select a date from calendar field, choose the desired date for your task deadline by clicking on the calendar icon.
- Step 4:Set Task Priority
- In the Priority dropdown, choose the priority level of the task:
- Low Priority: Tasks that are not urgent.
- Medium Priority: Tasks that require moderate attention.
- High Priority: Tasks that need immediate attention.
- In the Priority dropdown, choose the priority level of the task:
- Step 5:Add Task
- Once all fields are filled out, click the Add Task button to add your task to the list.
2. Viewing Tasks
- After you add a task, it will appear in the Task List below.
- Each task will show:
- Title of the task.
- Date the task is due.
- Priority Level (Low, Medium, High).
- Description of the task.
Tasks will be listed in a clean, easy-to-read format with alternating background colors for easy visual tracking.
3. Task Prioritization
- Each task can be categorized with a priority level (Low, Medium, High). The tasks will be displayed with different colors based on the priority:
- Low Priority: Green
- Medium Priority: Orange
- High Priority: Red
4. Changing Task Style (For PDF Output)
- Use the Style Select dropdown to choose the layout style for the tasks when you download the list as a PDF. Available options are:
- Minimal: A simple, no-frills task list.
- Professional: A more structured and formal style.
- Rounded Grey Blocks: Tasks displayed in grey, rounded blocks.
- Rounded Colourful Blocks: Tasks displayed with colorful, rounded blocks for a more vibrant look.
5. Downloading the Task List as a PDF
- To save your task list, click the Download PDF button.
- The list of tasks will be formatted according to the selected style (Minimal, Professional, etc.) and will be saved as a PDF file that you can download and share.
- The PDF will include:
- Task title
- Task date
- Task priority
- Task description
Additional Features
- Task Removal: Currently, there is no direct option to delete tasks within this version of the tool. You may need to refresh or clear the list manually if necessary.
- Responsive Design: The tool is designed to be responsive and should work well on both desktop and mobile devices.
- Datepicker Integration: The task date field uses a jQuery UI datepicker to allow you to select a date easily from a calendar view.
Troubleshooting
- If the Task is Not Visible:
- Ensure the task title is filled in. Tasks without a title will not be added to the list.
- Task Text Not Visible in Priority Dropdown:
- If the task priority dropdown displays text poorly or cuts off, ensure the page is properly loaded. Try refreshing the page to reset the layout.
